Van Zoetendaal Publishers

Deshima / Céline van Balen, Koos Breukel, Carla van de Puttelaar, Harold Strak, Jasper Wiedeman

Named for the island in Nagasaki Bay where the Dutch first introduced photography to the Japanese in the nineteenth century (1857). Deshima presents a group of five striking Dutch photographers as an exhibition in print. The works range from quirky Dutch cityscapes to sublime, psychological portraits. Printed on Monadnock paper, colour separations by Egbert de Haas (Projectiecolor) and tri-tone separations by Robert Hennessey and guided by Sue Medlicott at Callff & Meischke Printing office in Amsterdam. One of the best printed books in history of Van Zoetendaal Publishers. A first tribute to Jeffrey Fraenkel’s book Seeing Things, one of the best printed books on photography ever!
